Jean Good, manager of the campus post office at The University of Virginia's College at Wise, has been named Mail Manager of the Year by the College and University Mail Services Association (CUMSA).
Good was nominated for the award by her peers both for her outstanding work at UVa-Wise and for her work on behalf of CUMSA, a national organization open to all educational institutions involved with mail service.
"This is a tremendous honor for Jean and her workers in mail services," said Sim Ewing, vice chancellor for finance and governmental relations.
An employee of UVa-Wise since 1987, Good has served as the manager of the College's post office since 1989. She is the current chair of CUMSA's membership committee.
CUMSA members strive "to promote, develop and unite educational postal employees, to facilitate cooperation between its members, and to provide a means through which their knowledge and experience may be pooled, to promote and maintain high professional standards, to develop and improve training and educational opportunities, to collect and distribute information of value to it members, to render assistance when requested, and to generally further the interests of postal personnel."
A native of Dickenson County, Good lives in Clintwood with her husband, Bob Good.
