UVa-Wise Professor to Discuss "America and the Post-War Reconstruction of Iraq"
Joseph Scolnick, professor of political science at The University of Virginia's College at Wise, will discuss "America and the Post-War Reconstruction of Iraq" during a presentation on Monday, Oct. 6. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, begins at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths.
Scolnick will examine a variety of issues including the strengths and weaknesses of the American-led post-war reconstruction effort and the potential for future domestic and international problems for the United States government.
A noted foreign policy scholar, Scolnick earned his undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Virginia and his Ph.D. in political science and international relations from the University of Kentucky. A member of the UVA-Wise faculty since 1973, Scolnick is the co-editor of United States Foreign Policy in Transition and was the book review editor of "Studies in Conflict and Terrorism." During the 1988-89 academic term, Scolnick was a visiting professor of regional studies the Air War College located at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama.
