Godspell opens Nov. 7 at UVa-Wise
The University of Virginia's College at Wise will present "Godspell," a theatrical celebration of the Gospel of St. Matthew, on two consecutive weekends in November. Performance dates are Nov. 7th, 8th 14th, 15th at 8pm and Sunday Nov. 16th at 2pm. All performances will be held at the UVa-Wise Theatre.
A musical composed by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak, Godspell, is an energetic production based on the gospel of St. Matthew. A 1970's hit musical both on and off Broadway, the production focuses on the parable teachings of Jesus Christ including: Christian morality, love, and forgiveness. A modern mixture of musical styles such as gospel, folk, rock, and vaudeville breathe life into the performance.
The main ensemble includes Brandon Crowder, Michael Perry, Jade Bolling, Charly Gilliam, Mary Rose Hanson, Sarah Holcomb, Scott McDaniel, Jenny Saupp, Joshua Wells, and Danni Willis. Chorus members include Maria Cobb, Kristina Feeser, D'Ivonne Holman, Janina Kaplan, Tiffany Nwankwo, Rebeeca Thompson, and Kim Wallace. Tickets are available at the door. General admission tickets are $5. UVa-Wise students will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
