Guest Information
Family and Friends
Only graduates are allowed in the Gym. Guests should go directly to the tent, where coffee, lemonade and water will be available beginning at 8 a.m.
Seating
Tickets are not necessary; seating under the tent is first-come, first-served. All unoccupied seats will be released at 10:45 a.m. Guests are not permitted in the graduate seating area at any time.
A section is reserved for handicapped guests, who may be accompanied by one family member or friend. Please tell the usher if you need to be seated near the hearing impaired interpreter.
Photos
An area is set aside for taking a photograph of your graduate exiting the stage. Please return to your seat as soon as you take the photo, to make room for other guests.
Severe Weather
In the case of rain, the ceremony will continue as planned and guests should
dress accordingly. During the week of Commencement weather information will
be available at 276-376-4766 and at www.uvawise.edu/commencement.
Disability Accommodations
Handicapped-accessible parking is available near the tent; however, guests must walk a short distance. Limited wheelchair seating is available under the tent. If you need to be seated near an interpreter for the hearing impaired, or if you need to borrow a wheelchair, please call 276-328-0285.
Parking Shuttle
Guest parking is available at the Carl Smith Stadium. A shuttle bus will travel to the site of the ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day. Graduates should park in the upper gym lot.
Videos
An official videographer will videotape the ceremony. By order of the Fire Marshal, only the official videographer may set up a tripod under the tent. To purchase a video, contact:
