performed very well and attendance was great,” said

will definitely be an annual event, one I hope will grow
to include bands from across Southwest and Central Virginia,
Northeast Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky and Western North
Carolina.”
Galyean extended special appreciation a number of individuals
and organizations that helped make the event a success
including Donnie Sorah, Michael Cox, the Wise Kiwanis
Club, Sandy Earls, Rhonda Goins, John Reeves and the entire
UVa-Wise Buildings and Grounds crew, Campus Police, the
Gate City High School Band and director Rick Lake, UVa-Wise
Band students, and members of Alpha Sigma Phi.
The Highland Cavalier Marching Band Festival was sanctioned
by the United State Scholastic Band Association’s
