UVa-Wise
band concerts May 4 and May 6
Music
lovers, mark your calendars. It’s time for the annual
spring band concerts at The University of Virginia’s
College at Wise.
On Wednesday, May 4, the UVa-Wise Recorder Ensemble, Wind
Ensemble, and Wise Guys Brass Ensemble will present a chamber
music concert. Free and open to the public, the event begins
at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths.
The UVa-Wise Band Concert on Friday, May 6, includes performances
by the Concert Band and Jazz Band. The concert, which is
free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. in the UVa-Wise
Theatre.
The Concert Band performance will include a medley of songs
from the film, “Pirates of the Caribbean” along
with the selections “Toccata for Band,” “By
Loch and Mountain,” and “Rushmore.”
The Jazz Band will play the popular tunes “Ivory Moon,”
“Georgia on My Mind,” and “Kansas City.”
UVa-Wise bands are under the direction of music instructor
Richard D. Galyean.
