Children invited to “Christmas Around the World”
at UVa-Wise Dec. 6

Children will learn about holiday customs in other countries during “Christmas Around the World” at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise on Monday, Dec. 6.

The free event, open to children 12 years of age and younger, will be held from 6-8 p.m. on the fifth floor of the C. Bascom Slemp Student Center. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

UVa-Wise education students will read stories and provide information to illustrate how Christmas is celebrated in other countries including Australia, England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Sweden.

Children will have an opportunity to sample a variety of holiday foods from these countries, make Christmas crafts, and listen to traditional holiday music. An American Santa Claus will be on hand at “Christmas Around the World” to greet the children.

“Christmas Around the World” is sponsored by the Southwest Virginia Education Association (SVEA) at UVa-Wise.
