First-annual Highland Cavalier Marching Band Festival
at UVa-Wise Oct. 22

The public is invited to attend the first-annual Highland Cavalier Marching Band Festival at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Area bands set to participate include: Appalachia High School, Fluvanna High School, Grundy High School, Holston High School, J.J. Kelly High School, Lee High School, Lee-Davis High School, Northwood High School, Powell Valley High School, Rural Retreat High School, St. Paul High School, and Tazewell High School. The Gate City High School Band will serve as the host band for the event, performing the National Anthem and their half-time show.

The music begins at 5 p.m. in Carl Smith Stadium on the UVa-Wise campus. Tickets are $10. Concessions will be available.

The event is sanctioned by the United State Scholastic Band Association’s (USSBA) division of Youth Education in the Arts.
