Jam-4-Man
benefit concert at UVa-Wise May 6-7
The
12th annual Jam-4-Man benefit concert at The University
of Virginia’s College at Wise May 6-7 will feature
great music for a great cause.
Whether
you’re a fan of rock or bluegrass, you’ll find
something to like at this year’s event. As the name
of the concert implies, Jam-4-Man is about more than music.
Admission to Jam-4-Man is free, however, donations of canned
food items are requested. The goal is to collect at least
1,000 cans of food, which will be provided to area food
banks.
Jam-4-Man kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on May 6 at the UVa-Wise
intramural field, located adjacent to Carl Smith Stadium.
Friday night is dedicated to rock music with performances
by Badd Habbitz, Far-Less, and Appetite for Destruction.
Appetite for Destruction, a tribute band to the 1980s megagroup
Guns N’Roses, is the headliner for the May 6 concert.
The band, named for one of GNR’s most popular albums,
takes the stage at 9:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 7, is devoted to bluegrass and traditional
music. The music starts at 1 p.m. on Monday and continues
through 8 p.m. A variety of bands will perform throughout
the day including the Bluegrass Messengers from Pound. Virginia
Ground, an eclectic acoustic band comprised of talented
musicians from Glade Spring, Damascus and Bristol, takes
the stage at 7 p.m.
Jam-4-Man
is sponsored by the UVa-Wise Student Government Association.
