Music
faculty recital at UVa-Wise Nov. 2
The public is cordially invited to attend the first annual
music faculty recital at The University of Virginia’s
College at Wise on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. and again at
8 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths. There is no charge to
attend.
The Division of Music, a part of the Department of Visual
and Performing Arts, has two full-time and four part-time
music faculty. All six faculty, as well as three accompanists,
will participate in the recital.
Faculty performing include D. Michael Donathan, professor
emeritus of music; David Volk, assistant professor of music;
Rick Galyean, instructor of music; Ross Grable, associate
professor of computer science; Michael Cox, staff instructor
in music; and Donnie Sorah, staff instructor in music. Accompanists
include Harriet Grable, Deata Trent McConnell, and Kathy Thacker
Stewart.
Ranging in musical styles from baroque to contemporary, the
program will include works by Loeillet, Beethoven, Donaudy,
Hahn, Marcello, Vaughan Williams, Brahms, and Ewazen.
