UVa-Wise to offer On-site Admissions Day at J.J. Kelly High School Oct. 3
Seniors at J. J. Kelly High School soon will have the opportunity to apply for admission to The University of Virginia’s College at Wise during regular school hours and without leaving their high school campus at the College’s first On-site Admissions Day.
The UVa-Wise Office of Admissions will present the premier On-site Admissions Day at J. J. Kelly High School on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007.
Until now, students could only submit an application for admission and the required documents via the College’s Web site, by mail or by personal delivery. Once all documents were received, students would be informed of an admissions decision within two weeks. Now, for the first time, students at a southwest Virginia high school can submit all application materials and be informed of an admission decision within one session.
Seniors will have the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from various offices on campus while completing the application process. The Office of Admissions will evaluate applications for admission and inform each applicant of his or her admissions status on-site. The Office of Financial Aid will address questions and will assist with financial aid and scholarship estimates. A UVa-Wise Student Ambassador will be present to address student-life questions.
The event will be held in the J. J. Kelly High School library from 9 a.m. to noon. Parents are encouraged to attend.
“On-site Admissions Day will ensure that students meet all scholarship and financial aid deadlines in a timely fashion,” said Rusty Necessary, Vice Chancellor Enrollment Management at UVa-Wise. “While J. J. Kelly High School has willingly agreed to be our first partner, we hope to deliver this program to all of our high schools in Southwest Virginia.”
