Suzanne
Adams-Ramsey art exhibit at Lonesome Pine Regional Library
through November
Suzanne Adams-Ramsey, chair of the Department of Visual
and Performing Arts at The University of Virginia’s
College at Wise, will exhibit a variety of her artwork throughout
the month of November during a show at The Library Gallery
of The Lonesome Pine Regional Library in Wise.
“Parables
and Icons” includes art quilts, mixed media collage
and watercolor. “The collection of work in this exhibition
represents the past four years of my artistic life,”
Adams-Ramsey says. “It’s been an interesting
journey, of coming to terms with some things about myself.”
The
work on display includes: “Country Churches,”
12 small-scale watercolor paintings of regional rural churches;
and “Miniature Art Quilts,” 12 small-scale wall
quilts featuring figurative imagery in combination with
both traditional and non-traditional surface design processes.
“I
believe my primary strength as an artist is the fact that
I’m a generalist; I’m interested in so many
different things,” Adams-Ramsey says. “I love
to work in many different media, I’m fascinated by
both the natural and the spiritual, and I have a child like
curiosity for materials and forms. On the other hand, my
primary weakness is also, that I’m a generalist! I
simply will not live long enough to make all of the work
in my head!”
The
exhibit is free and open to the public. For more information,
contact the Lonesome Pine Regional Library at 276-328-8061
or the Office of College Relations at 276-328-0130.
