Activities:
Dr. Clark is founding director of the Appalachian Writing Project, an affiliate of the National Writing Project, which serves public schools and colleges in eight southwest Virginia counties and the city of Norton. She was honored with the 2005 Harrison Award for Outstanding Teaching at UVA-Wise.
   
Research
Interests:
Her current research interest includes the literacies of Appalachian women, and the Appalachian dialect. Dr. Clark's research study on the vernacular literacies of Appalachian Women was awareded the 2004 Research Grant at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
   
Recent
Publications:
Dr. Clark has published and presented in the fields of writing and Appalachian culture.She has published articles on Appalachian issues in such venues as The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Tampa Tribune, Blue Ridge Country, Now and Then: The Appalachian Magazine, and the Journal of the Virginia Writing Project. Her radio interviews and essays have appeared on "With Good Reason," sponsored by the Foundation for the Humanities. She recently appeared on an Appalachian Writers' panel with Lee Smith and Donna Warmuth.
