In addition, Dr. Maurer serves as the faculty advisor for the UVA-Wise NSTA Student Chapter.
Research
Interests:
Dr. Maurer's main research interest is in creating effective pedagogies to enhance self-efficacy and biological literacy in non-science majors. While on campus, Dr. Maurer has headed up the SENCER Project (Science Education through New Civic Engagements and Responsibilities) to develop new courses in Natural Science for non-majors. He has also participated in designing and teaching courses for the Appalachian Math Science Partnetship.
