GE MasterCard Travel Card

Purpose of the Travel Card:

  The Travel Card is a convenient means for charging travel-related expenses while conducting official College business OR reimbursable business and recruitment meals when the cardholder is not in travel status.  All purchases must comply with current State and College travel guidelines. 

Who is eligible?

All full-time faculty and classified staff who travel two or more times per year on College business are eligible to apply for the GE MasterCard travel card. Written approval from the Comptroller is required for other College employees, such as part-time faculty and staff.

What can the card be used for?

Travel cards may be used only for reimbursable travel and related expenditures while an employee is in travel status. Personal charges to the card ARE NOT allowed.

Who is responsible for repayment to GE MasterCard?

The employee is personally responsible to make prompt payment to GE MasterCard immediately upon receipt of the statement. It is up to the employee to submit timely travel reimbursements and pay their GE MasterCard account in full upon receipt of their statement.

Is the GE MasterCard a revolving credit card?

No, the GE MasterCard is not a revolving credit card.  Payment must be made in full upon receipt of your statement.

What happens if I do not pay my bill in full upon receipt of the statement?

If your account becomes 30 days delinquent you will receive a memo from the Comptroller requesting that you make payment in full immediately. If your account is not paid in full within 60 days then the Department of Accounts in Richmond will automatically suspend your card. If your account becomes 90 days delinquent then GE MasterCard will permanently suspend your card and you cannot apply for a new Travel card.

NOTE: If your Travel Card is permanently suspended by GE, you will NOT be eligible for any travel advance funds from the College.

Can I make payments and manage my account on-line?

Yes, you can make payments and manage your account on-line 24 hours a day 7 days a week by going to the following link: www.genetservice.com

Can I still get Traveler's Checks with my GE MasterCard?

Yes, you can still get Traveler's Checks with your GE MasterCard. They are available in the following packages:  $150, $200, $300, or $500.  Only travel card holders who are conducting overnight travel may request Traveler's Checks. Employees taking day drips or who are not members of the Travel Card program are not eligible for Traveler's Checks

How do I get my Traveler's Checks?

First you must complete the Traveler's Check request form and this form can be accessed by clicking on the following link:

Once this form is complete it then must be taken to the Cashier's Office where they will issue you your Traveler's Checks.
