The University of Virginia’s College at Wise will once again participate in the University of Virginia’s Outstanding Contribution Awards Program.  This is the highest honor the University bestows on classified employees, and therefore it is extremely important that those deserving of this award be nominated and recognized for their contributions. 

Chancellor Prior will name a selection committee to choose the recipient from UVa-Wise.  The recipient, along with those chosen from the University and the Medical Center, will be announced during the week of May 4-10, which has been designated as Virginia Public Service Week.   In addition to an engraved award and public recognition, winners of the OCA will each receive a $1,000 cash award.  (This award is exclusive of any other pay action or any other potential monetary recognition through programs such as Rewards and Recognition.)  Select nominations received for the OCA Program will also be used for agency submission for the Governor’s Awards, the state’s recognition program.

Nominations must be received in Human Resources by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2008.The nomination must be submitted by the nominator as a complete packet that contains the original nomination and one endorsement by individuals who have direct knowledge of the employee’s contributions.  Either the nominator or the endorser must be the nominee’s supervisor.  Detailed features and requirements of the program are included on the nomination form.
