UVa-Wise post office manager elected president of national mail services association

Jean Good, manager of the campus post office at The University of Virginia's College at Wise, has been elected to serve as president of the College and University Mail Services Association (CUMSA).
During the first of three years in the post, Good will serve as president elect of the group, then president during 2008-09 and finally as immediate past president.
“Jean has consistently worked to ensure that mail services at UVa-Wise are of the highest caliber, and she has diligently worked through the national CUMSA organization to foster effective mail service throughout the nation’s colleges and universities,” said Sim Ewing, vice chancellor for finance and government relations at UVa-Wise. “Being named president-elect of CUMSA is recognition by Jean’s peers of her exceptional leadership and professionalism.”
CUMSA was established in 1988 as an organization to establish standards, promote ethics, and foster professionalism for campus mail personnel. Membership is open to all educational institutions with curriculums leading to an appropriate certificate of degree. Currently 88 institutions hold active memberships in CUMSA and another 106 are associate members.
A member of CUMSA since 1996, Good has previously served as a board member at large, a conference planner, chair of the membership committee, and most recently as the group’s treasurer in 2006-07.
Employed at UVa-Wise since 1987, Good has served as the manager of the College's post office since 1989. In 2003, Good received CUMSA’s Mail Manager of the Year Award. Good was nominated for the award by her peers both for her outstanding work at UVa-Wise and for her work on behalf of CUMSA. Additionally, Good holds certification from the United States Postal Service as a Mail Piece Quality Control Specialist.
Good, a Dickenson County native, lives in Clintwood with her husband, Bob Good.
