Clarinet Day set for April 24 at UVa-Wise
Clarinetists of all ages and playing abilities are invited to participate in the Second Annual Clarinet Day at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise on April 24.
Clarinet Day will introduce students and others to UVa-Wise and its expanding music program. The program begins with registration in the Gilliam Center for the Arts at 9 a.m. Instruction and rehearsals follow registration.
Those attending will receive instruction from Eugene Jones, a renowned clarinetist who has performed in many symphony orchestras across the nation. UVa-Wise adjunct music professor Suzanna Masters will also provide instruction.
Jones, a founding member of the Paramount Players chamber music ensemble in Bristol, will join Masters to conduct a master class in clarinet fundamentals, playing and demonstration.
Participants will perform in the Festival Clarinet Choir Concert in the Gilliam Center for the Arts at 3 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. Each player is asked to bring an instrument in good working condition. Reeds, clarinet supplies and clarinet novelties will be available for purchase.
Participants must pay a $10 registration fee. The fee increases to $15 for those who register on the day of the event. UVa-Wise students, faculty and staff are admitted free with college ID.
To register or for more information, contact Suzanna Masters at 276-328-8819 or firstname.lastname@example.org or David Volk at 276-328-0271 or email@example.com.
