Symantec Antivirus for Students

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is pleased to announce that Symantec Antivirus 10.1 is now available for all students (residential and commuter) of the College. Symantec Antivirus is a program that is designed to protect computers from viruses and other malicious threats. While no antivirus solution is guaranteed to stop all threats, having antivirus software installed is a major safeguard in protecting your computer. You are entitled to use this software so long as you are a student enrolled at UVa-Wise. Once your enrollment terminates (graduation, withdrawal, or other means) you must uninstall this software.

Use of this software is subject to the following terms and conditions:

You must be currently an enrolled student of the University of Virginia's College at Wise. Upon termination of your enrollment (by graduation, withdrawal, or other means) you must remove ALL licensed copies of this software from your personal computer.
You agree to NOT redistribute this software in any way.
You agree that installation of this anti-virus software product is done at your own risk.
You also understand that the integrity of your data is your personal responsibility, and that you will back-up your data prior to conducting this installation process.
You understand that all previous versions or other anti-virus software products must be uninstalled prior to installation of this product.
No support will be provided by the UVa-Wise OIT Helpdesk for this software. Any support provided will be limited to answering questions about the software.

You may download and install the software by logging into the Blackboard system located at http://blackboard.uvawise.edu. If you do not already have an account, you can create one by clicking the “create account” button or visit the Helpdesk in Darden Hall B010A for assistance with setting up Blackboard. Once you have logged into your Blackboard account, click the “Courses” tab and select the “Symantec Antivirus 10.1 for Students” category. Click the “enroll” button beside of the “Symantec Antivirus 10.1 for Students” course. Once you have enrolled in the course, follow the instructions for downloading Symantec 10.1 Antivirus.
