UVa-Wise offers On-site Admissions Day at area high schools
College-bound students at area high schools will have the opportunity to apply for admission to The University of Virginia’s College at Wise at their schools with the recently implemented On-site Admissions Day.
On-site Admissions day will be held at the following schools:
Powell Valley High School, Friday, Nov. 2, 1:30 p.m.;
John I. Burton High School, Wednesday, Nov. 7, 1:30 p.m.
Until now, students could only submit an application for admission and the required documents via the College’s Web site, by mail or by personal delivery. Once all documents were received, students would be informed of an admissions decision within two weeks. Now, for the first time, students at a southwest Virginia high school can submit all application materials and be informed of an admission decision within one session.
Seniors will have the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from various offices on campus while completing the application process. The Office of Admissions will evaluate applications for admission and inform each applicant of his or her admissions status on-site.
The Office of Financial Aid will address questions and will assist with financial aid and scholarship estimates. A UVa-Wise Student Ambassador will be present to address student-life questions.
“On-site Admissions Day will ensure that students meet all scholarship and financial aid deadlines in a timely fashion,” said Rusty Necessary, Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management at UVa-Wise.
