Homecoming events include the tradition to recognize the outstanding spirit of UVa-Wise clubs & organizations. Homecoming 2015 is scheduled for the weekend of October 3.
- The Silver Saber Spirit Competition is conducted on a point system awarded to the top-spirited/best performing organization for each of the many scheduled events. Many contests will be featured at 5 pm on Friday, October 2 for the Meet the Cavs Pep Rally at the Lawn by the Lake. The winner of the Silver Saber Spirit Competition will be announced at the annual Saturday Homecoming football contest. The winning organization will received a Silver Saber Spirit trophy, addition of the organization name to the Silver Saber winners’ plaque and a $700 prize (sponsored by the SGA and the Alumni Association).

- One of the most-cherished UVa-Wise traditions, introduction of the Homecoming Court and announcement of the Homecoming Queen and King will be conducted at half-time of the Cavs football contest. Online nominations and elections are held in the weeks preceding Homecoming weekend.
Lighting of Crockett Hall
Each November/December, the SGA coordinates the holiday lighting of Crockett Hall. Festivities include a brief program followed by hot chocolate and other refreshments.
UVa-Wise Talent Show
Members of each of the SGA Branches have weekly office hours to provide members of the student body an opportunity to share their thoughts and concerns about campus issues. The Student Government Association is located in the Student Leadership Wing on the third floor of the C. Bascom Slemp Student Center. The office telephone number is 276-328-0213.
The annual Spring Formal is held each spring. Semi-formal/formal attire is requested for this dance. A valid Cavs Card ID is required for admission. Each student may be accompanied by one guest with ID.
All students enrolled for six or more semester hours at the College are considered members of the Student Government Association during the time of their enrollment.
Weekly meetings are held each Friday at 1 pm in the Dogwood Room on the fifth floor of the C. Bascom Slemp Student Center. All meetings are open to the public.
