COUNSELING SERVICES
Counseling Services, a unit of the Center for Student Development, provides short-term counseling that focuses on addressing students’ personal concerns that may hinder current and/or future learning and personal development.
Students seek counseling for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to — coping with stressful situations, substance abuse, losing important relationships, decreased self confidence, loneliness, depression, and anxiety.
Additionally, students seek counseling to further their own personal growth. For example, students come to counseling to learn more effective social skills, improve the quality of their interpersonal relationships, and learn more about their own personality traits.
Two full-time counselors provide confidential counseling sessions in accordance with the ethical guidelines of the American Counseling Association.
Counseling Services is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. If you would like to schedule an appointment for counseling services, please stop by the Center for Student Development located on the lower level of Cantrell Hall, or call us at (276) 376-1005. Please notify the secretary in the event of an emergency or crisis situation. In the event of an emergency after hours or on weekends, please contact Campus Police at 328-COPS or dial 911.
