The Center for Student Development is comprised of Career Services, Counseling Services, Health Services, & Multi-Cultural Affairs. Offering a wide variety of opportunities and programs to our students and the campus community is at the core of what we do.
OUR MISSION
The Center for Student Development promotes positive choices regarding physical, mental, and social well-being of the individual members of the campus community. This is achieved by fostering the development of insights, values, and ideas toward implementation of each individual’s personal, academic and professional goals. The Center for Student Development is committed to developing individual leadership skills and an appreciation for diversity among individuals by affording opportunities for individual growth within a diverse campus population.
OUR FACILITIES
The Center for Student Development provides free 'one-stop-shopping' for students seeking any of our available services. Located on the lower-level of Cantrell Hall, we offer:
- a Health & Wellness wing for Counseling Services, Health Services, and Wise County Health Department services, including a fully-equipped exam room, an observation area for sick students, and a separate waiting area for sick students
- a Career Services wing that offers a career reference library, computer and printer access, and a conference room.
- a convenient, one-stop appointment area for all Center for Student Development services.

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD (SDAB)
The Student Development Advisory Board (SDAB) is a group of students who provide input for the scheduling of events, programs and activities for UVa-Wise students through the Center for Student Development that pertain to the overall health, development and future of students.
