The 2013 Day of Service is being coordinated by a committee comprised of students, faculty and staff members at UVa-Wise. Members of the committee include chair Josh Justice, Dean of Students Jewell Worley, Angela Lemke, Rachel Person, Stephanie Shell, Sarah Smith, Debra Wharton, and Kathy Still.
The Day of Service was first held in 2011 as a joint venture between the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and the College at Wise to honor and to celebrate the inauguration of Teresa A. Sullivan as the eighth president of the University of Virginia. In keeping with the College’s mission to promote civic involvement within the community, the Day of Service has become an annual event sponsored by the Office of Student Life.
If you would like to recommend a project to be included as part of the Day of Service, or to find out more about how to participate, contact Stephanie Shell, Director of Student Programming at 276-328-0216 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
