BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - - Union College erased a six-run deficit in game one to outlast UVa-Wise 9-8 in extra innings before scoring five first inning runs of game two to claim a 6-1 darkness shortened victory in the finale to sweep a doubleheader at Jerry Carey Stadium. The pair of games were the first for UVa-Wise this season, coach Hank Banner's squad had missed its first eight games due to snow.

WISE - - Concord University used an 11-0 run to break a 34-34 tie mid-way through the second half to post a 65-48 win over UVa-Wise at the Prior Center Saturday. The win secured the eighth seed in next week's Mountain East Conference Tournament for the Mountain Lions and secured a season-series sweep of the Cavaliers.

Storylines – Concord University gameConcord University is coming off of a non-conference 83-57 victory over Davis & Elkins College entering Saturday's game against UVa-Wise. In that game, the Mountain Lions had three players finish in double figures. Concord was led by Rob Reed who finished with a game-high 19 points. Aaron Miller added 14 points, Paul Byrd finished with 10 points and six assists, while Terry Hopewell added 11 rebounds and four steals. The Mountain Lions shot 42.9 percent from the floor and 46.7 percent from beyond the arc against the Senators. On the season, Miller is scoring 18.4 points per game and pulling down 3.4 rebounds a game to lead Concord, while Mike Boyd and Rob Reed are averaging 13.3 points each per game. The Mountain Lions are scoring 81.5 points per game, while allowing 75.2 from opponents.
Saturday will mark the final regular season game in the career of Katie Jo Dockery. Dockery will be honored along with the lone senior on the men's team, Tyler Maggard in between the two games. Dockery has started in each game over the last two seasons and has mae 144 3-pointers in her four-year career. The Oakwood, Virginia native has been near perfect from the free throw line as a senior. Entering Saturday she has missed just five foul shots and is shooting 86.1 percent from the charity stripe. Dockery is an education major with a concentration in mathematics, upon graduation this May she plans to continue to stay involved with the game of basketball.
