WISE, Va. – The Tornado's head coach George Pitts landed his 1000th win Thursday as King University defeated UVa-Wise 88-44 in the Prior Center.
WISE - - The University of Pikeville limited UVa-Wise to 19 second half points and overcame a 34-29 halftime deficit to post a 63-53 victory at the Prior Center on Wednesday. With the win, the Bears sweep the season series over the Cavaliers, UPike won 93-70 in Pikeville earlier this season.
Storylines – UPike GameUVa-Wise welcomes the University of Pikeville to the Prior Center for the school's annual "Kids Day" on Wednesday. Local kids throughout Wise County will visit the Prior to cheer on the Cavaliers while being provided free refreshments. This is the second meeting of the year between the two schools, UPike won the first meeting 93-70 on November 29th. The Bears are led by Khalilah Quigley who is posting a team-high 16.9 points per game. As a team, UPike is averaging 87.3 points per game and is outscoring its opponents by 16 points a game. The Bears' win over the Cavaliers earlier this year halted a three-game winning streak UVa-Wise had in the series.
NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University shot 53.8 percent from the field and limited UVa-Wise to 32.8 percent shooting as the Spartans ran away with an 88-49 exhibition victory over the Cavaliers at Joseph Echols Hall on Monday.
MONTGOMERY, W.Va. - - UVa-Wise hit a season-high 14 3-pointers, eight of which came from Blair Harding as the Cavaliers posted an 80-64 victory over West Virginia Tech at the Basil Center on Saturday. Harding hit five of her eight 3-pointers in the first half as she finished with a career-high 33 points.
Storylines – The West Virginia Tech GameFormer Mid-South Conference foe West Virginia Tech enters the game 5-6 and on a three-game losing streak. The Golden Bears most recently suffered a 91-74 loss to Point Park on Wednesday. Tech is led by 5-3 Nia Nolan is who averaging 18.4 points per game and has scored 20 or more points in four games this season. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since the 2011-12 season when the Cavaliers scored a sweep of the Golden Bears. UVa-Wise won 96-87 in Montgomery that season.
WISE - - Head Coach Kristen Salyer announced the signing of two future Cavaliers in Ciara Kain and Eustaica Smith. Both outside hitters, the pair will join a team that posted a 14-14 record in 2014.
GLENVILLE, W.Va. – UVa-Wise made just 12 of 40 3-point attempts while falling 52-37 in the battle of the boards in an 83-57 loss to Glenville State at the Waco Center on Saturday.

Keyanna Tate scored 30 points to lead the way for the Pioneers who forced 30 Cavalier turnovers in improving to 2-2 in the Mountain East Conference.
STORYLINES – THE GLENVILLE STATE GAMEDefending Mountain East Conference regular season and tournament champion Glenville State enters the game just 1-3 overall and 1-2 in MEC action. Most recently, the Pioneers suffered a 104-96 defeat to Concord on Thursday. It was the second time in four games that Glenville State has allowed 100 or more points. Despite their struggle on defense, the Pioneers enter as the MEC's top-ranked offense, posting 89.2 points per contest. Senior Keyanna Tate leads the charge for Glenville State as she ranks fifth in the league in scoring at 16.8 points per contest. Tate is also in the top ten in rebounding as she ranks seventh with 9.5 rebounds a game.

Most recently, the Pioneers claimed an 83-81 overtime win over Concord on Thursday. In that contest, Kade Kager connected on five 3-pointers to score a team-high 19 points while Brett Morris added 17 points and Morales chipped in 16. As a team, Glenville State is making 12.29 3-pointers a game to rank second in the MEC. Overall, the Pioneers are scoring 80.7 points a night while allowing 77 points. The team is in its first season playing in the Waco Center which opened on campus prior to the start of the 2014-15 season.

WISE - - UVa-Wise used a trio of solid performances to overcome a 51-46 deficit with 9:19 to play to post its third consecutive Mountain East Conference victory, a 70-60 decision over West Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday.
