WISE - - Sophomore linebacker Zack Blair has been named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association All-State Team. A first-team honoree, Blair tied the single-season school record for tackles for loss with 26.5, the number lead the Mountain East Conference and his 95 total tackles were a team-high.
Storylines - West Liberty GameThe natinoally ranked number one Hilltoppers enter the contest 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the Mountain East Conference. West Liberty is led by junior Seger Bonifant who is scoring 27.5 points per game and grabbing 4.4 rebounds per game. Most recently, the Hilltoppers ran away with an 113-107 overtime victory over Concord University on Saturday. In that contest, Bonifant connected on nine free throws and three 3-pointers to score a game-high 30 points while CJ Hester added 27 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Brandon Smith also assisted the pair with 14 points and five rebounds. As a team, West Liberty University is making 12.9, 3-pointers a game and 19.2 free throws per game. Overall, the Hilltoppers are scoring 107.7 points a night while allowing 85.1 points.
Storylines – West Liberty GameWest Liberty enters the game one game out of first place in the Moutnain East Conference and coming off its finest peformance of the season. On Saturday, the Hilltoppers rolled to a 90-65 win at Concord behind a 30-point scoring performance by Liz Flowers. West Liberty shot 49.2 percent from the floor in the win while making 12 shots from beyond the three-point line. The 'Toppers were the preseason favorite to win the MEC and were ranked ninth in nationally in the preseason. Flowers had led the way on offense for West Liberty, as her 24.3 points per game leads the MEC.
WISE - - Wheeling Jesuit used a 23-5 run to close out Saturday's game en route to a 56-49 Mountain East Conference victory over UVa-Wise at the Prior Center.
WISE, Va. – Wheeling Jesuit shot 47.8 percent from the floor and limited UVa-Wise to 37 percent shooting as they defeated the Cavaliers 76-63 on Saturday at the Prior Center.
Storylines – Wheeling Jesuit GameWheeling Jesuit enters one game over the .500 mark at 4-3 but stands 1-2 in MEC play. Jaila Bryant enters as the leading scorer for Wheeling Jesuit as she averages 15.2 points a contest. The guard has not played since December 16th, having missed the Cardinals' 84-61 win over Ohio Valley on December 20. As a team, Wheeling Jesuit has three players averaging double figures and leads the league in shooting percentage at 48.8 percent. One area Wheeling Jesuit has struggled in is rebounding, the Cardinals enter last in the league in offensive rebounding at 10 per game while ranking 11th of 12 schools in defensive rebounding at 25 per contest.

Junior Tim Goff also assisted the pair with 14 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, Wheeling Jesuit University is making 7.6 3-pointers a game and 17.4 free throws per game. WISE – Sixth ranked Lincoln Memorial University shot 61.2 percent from the floor and scored 66 second half points en route to a 107-55 victory over UVa-Wise on Sunday.
BRISTOL , Tenn. - - King University used a full court trapping press to post a 21-2 run to close out the first half en route to a 54-38 non-conference women's basketball victory over UVa-Wise Saturday.
STORYLINES – KING UNIVERSITY GAMEThis will be the first meeting between the two schools since the 2009-10 season when the Tornado swept a pair of meetings. King enters a game over the .500 mark at 5-4 and has used a balanced scoring attack in the early part of the season. Coach Josh Thompson's squad has four players averaging eight or more points a game led by Arnelle Collins and Tia Keltt who both average 9.7 points per game. Most recently, the Tornado upended Lincoln Memorial 61-41 as Whitney Mitchell and Bonnie Durrett combined to score 29 points in the victory. The win halted a two-game losing skid for King. Through four home games, the Tornado have posted a 3-1 record.
WISE, Va. – The Tornado's head coach George Pitts landed his 1000th win Thursday as King University defeated UVa-Wise 88-44 in the Prior Center.
WISE - - The University of Pikeville limited UVa-Wise to 19 second half points and overcame a 34-29 halftime deficit to post a 63-53 victory at the Prior Center on Wednesday. With the win, the Bears sweep the season series over the Cavaliers, UPike won 93-70 in Pikeville earlier this season.
Storylines – UPike GameUVa-Wise welcomes the University of Pikeville to the Prior Center for the school's annual "Kids Day" on Wednesday. Local kids throughout Wise County will visit the Prior to cheer on the Cavaliers while being provided free refreshments. This is the second meeting of the year between the two schools, UPike won the first meeting 93-70 on November 29th. The Bears are led by Khalilah Quigley who is posting a team-high 16.9 points per game. As a team, UPike is averaging 87.3 points per game and is outscoring its opponents by 16 points a game. The Bears' win over the Cavaliers earlier this year halted a three-game winning streak UVa-Wise had in the series.
NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University shot 53.8 percent from the field and limited UVa-Wise to 32.8 percent shooting as the Spartans ran away with an 88-49 exhibition victory over the Cavaliers at Joseph Echols Hall on Monday.
MONTGOMERY, W.Va. - - UVa-Wise hit a season-high 14 3-pointers, eight of which came from Blair Harding as the Cavaliers posted an 80-64 victory over West Virginia Tech at the Basil Center on Saturday. Harding hit five of her eight 3-pointers in the first half as she finished with a career-high 33 points.
Storylines – The West Virginia Tech GameFormer Mid-South Conference foe West Virginia Tech enters the game 5-6 and on a three-game losing streak. The Golden Bears most recently suffered a 91-74 loss to Point Park on Wednesday. Tech is led by 5-3 Nia Nolan is who averaging 18.4 points per game and has scored 20 or more points in four games this season. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since the 2011-12 season when the Cavaliers scored a sweep of the Golden Bears. UVa-Wise won 96-87 in Montgomery that season.
WISE - - Head Coach Kristen Salyer announced the signing of two future Cavaliers in Ciara Kain and Eustaica Smith. Both outside hitters, the pair will join a team that posted a 14-14 record in 2014.

Keyanna Tate scored 30 points to lead the way for the Pioneers who forced 30 Cavalier turnovers in improving to 2-2 in the Mountain East Conference.
STORYLINES – THE GLENVILLE STATE GAMEDefending Mountain East Conference regular season and tournament champion Glenville State enters the game just 1-3 overall and 1-2 in MEC action. Most recently, the Pioneers suffered a 104-96 defeat to Concord on Thursday. It was the second time in four games that Glenville State has allowed 100 or more points. Despite their struggle on defense, the Pioneers enter as the MEC's top-ranked offense, posting 89.2 points per contest. Senior Keyanna Tate leads the charge for Glenville State as she ranks fifth in the league in scoring at 16.8 points per contest. Tate is also in the top ten in rebounding as she ranks seventh with 9.5 rebounds a game.
