C. BASCOM SLEMP STUDENT CENTER

C. BASCOM SLEMP STUDENT CENTER

The Slemp Center was designed to be the campus living room. Named for C. Bascom Slemp, a former U.S. congressman and the personal secretary to President Calvin Coolidge, it bridges the upper and lower campus and provides meeting areas for clubs and organizations ranging from Greek life to student government.

CARL SMITH STADIUM

CARL SMITH STADIUM

Carl Smith Stadium was christened in 1999 by a 49-19 victory over West Virginia Tech. Opened with a $25 million gift from University of Virginia alumnus Carl Smith, the stadium has seen several upgrades since then, including the addition of bleachers in 2001, the Humphreys-Thomas Field House in 2003, the installation of the Ramseyer Press Box in 2004, and the change to Astroturf GameDay 3D in 2011. Most recently, Lelia Maude Richmond field received lacrosse lines in preparation for the school's newest sport.
