The UVa-Wise chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success is offering a speaker broadcast event featuring Janice Bryant Howroyd. She will share lessons learned from her experiences coaching and mentoring professionals on success. She will discuss strategies for students to get noticed by employers, including: leveraging and discussing the impact of social media on their resume, diversifying their skills to apply in the digital landscape and learning to communicate their personal strengths effectively.

The event will be streamed live on Tuesday, Mar. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Cantrell Banquet Hall, and is free to all students, staff and faculty and the public. All viewers are invited to submit questions via Twitter and Facebook, most of which will be answered live during the broadcast. Note: For those unable to attend the live event, a re-broadcast will be shown (without the live interactive features) on Wednesday, Mar. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Cantrell Banquet Hall.

Recently showcased in Forbes magazine and on NBC’s The Today Show as one of the country’s most successful self-made women, Janice Bryant Howroyd is changing the game for millennials and women in business. As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the ACT 1 Group, a global innovative workforce solutions company, Bryant Howroyd champions the multi-generational global workforce. She is dedicated to mentoring, funding scholarships, and partnering with institutions such as University of Southern California, Harvard University and her HBCU own alma mater, North Carolina A&T. Bryant Howroyd shared her insight on how to create success in her book The Art of Work: How to Make Work, Work for You! She is an advocate for education and lends guidance to select organizations that include: MIE Ambassador to USA Department of Energy, The International Trade Advisory Commission, MSDUK, and the Women’s Leadership Board of the Kennedy School of Government/Harvard University. Her professional mantra is “Never compromise who you are personally to become who you wish to be professionally.”

This is the third installment of the spring 2016 NSLS multi-speaker broadcast series which is designed to support the Society’s overall mission of Building Leaders Who Make a Better World.
