Dear members of the University community,
We are pleased to share that the search for the University of Virginia’s ninth president is underway and write to invite your participation in the process.
The Special Committee on the Nomination of a President met last week for the second time and confirmed the decision to retain Isaacson, Miller, a nationally renowned executive search firm with deep experience in higher education, to assist in this search.
This is an extraordinary time in the life of the University of Virginia as we enter our third century, and we have high ambitions for what this University can continue to achieve. Identifying the right leader for our future will depend upon the collective wisdom of the University community, so we encourage you to share your thoughts with us.
Throughout the search, there will be occasions – both in person and online – for members of the University community to offer input on the key issues and opportunities facing the University and its next president. We have created a website dedicated to the presidential search (http://presidentialsearch.virginia.edu/) that will serve as the hub for information about input sessions and will feature updates related to the search process in the months ahead.
You will find an evolving list of outreach events by the Committee here. We encourage you to share your thoughts by accessing a brief survey here. You can also send an email with any input that you might have to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to nominate someone for the position, we ask that you please forward that nomination to Isaacson, Miller at email@example.com.
Thank you for your willingness to participate in this important process. We look forward to hearing from you.
William H. Goodwin, Jr.
