Do your children ever talk about meeting their favorite book characters?  Make that wish come true at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Funtasia.

The event, for children 12 and under, begins at noon and ends at 3 p.m. in the Betty Gilliam Sculpture Garden on campus. There will be plenty of activities, starting with The Book Character Parade at noon.

Following the parade, there will be food, drinks, a silent auction, and lots of prizes! Special guests include Emoji, Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story, Moanna, and more. Dress-up is not required, but children are encouraged to show support for their favorite book characters by dressing like them.

The event is free, although tickets for different activities will be sold at the main entrance. Refreshments will also be available for purchase from vendors.

Adult supervision is required for all children attending the event.

Parking is available in the upper lot behind the Leonard Sandridge Science Center. In the event of rain, the event will be moved to Greear Gymnasium.

Sponsors for the event include Student Virginia Education Association and UVa-Wise Student Government Association. Proceeds will go to SVEA. For more information, contact Sandra Richardson at 276-328-0187 or Linda Davidson at 276-328-0184.
