The UVa-Wise Alumni Association invites all alumni, students and friends of the College to attend fall 2018 Homecoming festivities set for Sept. 27-29.
The festivities begin on Thursday, Sept. 27, with a trip to Sugar Hill Brewing Company in St. Paul. The event is sponsored by the Pi Kappa Phi Alumni Chapter. Those attending have a full menu of items to purchase at the restaurant and brewery.
On Friday, Sept. 28, Professor Michael O’Donnell and Provost Sanders Huguenin will lead a “Behind the Scenes at UVa-Wise Tour” at 10:30 a.m. The tour begins in the Sunken Garden at Crockett Hall. The “Meet the Cavs” Homecoming Pep Rally takes place later on Friday at the intramural field. The popular second annual Homecoming Food Truck Rally takes place Friday as well. The event features local food trucks and the Cavalier Alumni Beverage Garden. Music will be provided by JGreat Entertainment. The Cavalier Alumni Beverage Garden is open to all ages (photo ID isrequired for adult purchases).
Saturday, Sept. 29, features the Gridiron Tailgate Zone and the annual Alumni-Student Tailgate Picnic beginning at 11:30 a.m. At 2 p.m., the UVa-Wise Highland Cavaliers football team will kick off against the Fairmont State University Fighting Falcons, and the 2018 king and queen will be crowned at halftime.
