UVA President Jim Ryan will be on the UVa-Wise campus on Thursday, March 7 to facilitate conversation and solicit feedback regarding his “Ours to Shape” campaign. This program solicits input from faculty, staff, students and community regarding three areas distinguished by President Ryan: community, discovery and service. This input will be used in the development of a new strategic plan for the University’s future. Per President Ryan, “Any vision for the University, in order to be compelling, has to be a shared vision.”
Additional information and links to submit comments online in response to the questions below can be found on the UVA Ours to Shape website, https://ourstoshape.virginia.edu/.
· Community: How do we create an unparalleled residential experience for students, in and out of the classroom? How do we strengthen the sense of community on campus, with the region, and with our alumni?
· Discovery: How do we best enable faculty to discover new knowledge? How do we best enable students to learn about the past, themselves and the world around them?
· Service: How do we provide the most valuable service to the commonwealth? How do we prepare students for a lifetime of service, regardless of their chosen fields.
All faculty, staff and students are invited to join President Ryan at 3 p.m. in Cantrell Banquet Hall.
