Dear Campus Community,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones healthy and well. Congratulations on the completion of a historic spring semester! Now that the spring is behind us, I understand the question on all of your minds is whether classes will resume on campus in the fall.

Our intention is to start the fall semester together, on-campus. To help us prepare for our opening, I have appointed a steering committee to develop the best plans for us to safely operate classrooms, perform daily work duties, and manage residential and campus facilities. The central focus remains maintaining a healthy and safe space for our community to live, learn, and work.

Southwest Virginia has some of the lowest rates of infection in the Commonwealth, and we feel that we are well positioned to keep students and employees safe especially given the extra precautions we plan to implement.

While we carefully and diligently prepare for a campus return in August, we will also be prepared to move to an online or virtual format if for some reason there were indications of viral spread nationally or regionally.

Over the summer, please stay tuned for further communications and information. We look forward to launching another academic year with each of you, and we look forward to seeing you, CAVS STRONG!

Best regards,
Donna
