All first-time full-time freshmen are required to complete a freshman seminar experience. These classes focus on the academic skills that are necessary to success in higher education. The classes also introduce students to academic life and provide the student with an advisor who will see the students frequently as well as address a variety of transition issues.
Entering freshmen will enroll in seminar (Sem 1010) during the fall semester. Students not in good academic standing at the end of their first full semester of enrollment will also be required to complete an additional semester of seminar during their second session of enrollment in order to further develop needed academic skills. The initial seminar requirement may be waived for students who transfer in at least 15 hours of credit with a grade point average of at least a 3.5 on 4.0 scale.
