First Generation College Students
A student who identifies as first generation means that neither parent nor guardian has earned a four-year college degree. First generation students represent a third of all college students nationwide and more than 50% of students enrolled at UVA Wise.
First generation students are often the first in their families to attend college and need support navigating this new environment. UVA Wise supports first generation students on their journeys to a college a degree by providing a variety of resources to promote awareness, foster academic success, and celebrate achievement.
