Departmental Core Requirements
Math Requirements – 6 semester hours
To satisfy the department’s mathematics requirement and general education requirements of the College, all majors in the Department must complete as a minimum, with a grade of “C” or better, MTH 1010: College Algebra and a second 3-hour MTH course numbered higher than MTH 1110: Pre-Calculus I, other than MTH 1180: Elementary Probability and Statistics.
Communication Requirements – 6 semester hours
All majors in the Department must complete COM 1000: Public Speaking and either COM 3450: Technical Writing or COM 3400: Business and Professional Communication with a grade of “C” or better.
Additional Core Requirements – 24 semester hours
All majors in the Department must complete each of the courses listed below with a grade of “C” orbetter. Students should generally complete all lower-division courses in the Core before scheduling upperdivision courses in their major.

*ECO 2050 satisfies three hours of the 9-hour social sciences requirement of the General Education core of the College.
Students majoring in the Department must complete each departmental core course, each required major-discipline course, each elective major-discipline course, and each restricted elective course with a grade of “C” or better to be eligible for graduation. All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better before enrolling in subsequent courses requiring the prerequisite. Minimum requirements for majors in accounting, business administration, or economics comprise 30 hours of designated courses, as specified below.
