How Do I Apply?
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise Governor’s School in Theater Arts serves the 21 school districts of Region 7 in Southwest Virginia. Nomination materials are sent each February to the Superintendents and Gifted Coordinators for each of these eligible school districts.
Student’s from these districts may be nominated by teachers or administrators. Students may also apply through this website. However, each school district ranks its applicants potential for participation in the event that the number of applicants exceeds the program’s capacity. In that event, students may be waitlisted as an alternate. Historically, all students who have responded to accept alternate status have ultimately been invited to participate in the program. Alternates are invited to participate in the order their acceptance is received.
All students’ applications must be accompanied by a teacher or director evaluation of the student’s work in theater or a similar activity.
To apply to participate in UVa-Wise’s Governor’s School in theater arts, complete and submit an Application Form by April 1st.
