Freshman / Freshman with Dual Credit

  • In the coming weeks you will receive information about housing and student life – please read this information carefully.
  • If you haven’t visited campus, please call the Office of Admissions to make an appointment or click here to register for our 360˚ Campus Preview Day Program.
  • Complete the enclosed Enrollment Confirmation and return this to the Office of Admissions with your $75.00 enrollment deposit to hold your space in the freshman class.  Click here to securely pay your enrollment deposit.
  • This offer of admission is based on your cumulative academic work to date. If you have been admitted during the first semester of your senior year, please submit official mid-year high school grades when available. Also, an official final high school transcript must be submitted upon graduation.
  • Freshmen who have taken dual enrollment classes must submit official college transcripts from all colleges.
  • Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid as soon as possible. The school code for UVa-Wise is 003747. Contact the Office of Financial Aid at 276-328-0139 with any questions you have about this process.
  • All freshmen are required to attend an orientation session to be able to register for classes. These events are in April, June, July, and August for fall semester and January for the spring semester. A registration packet will be mailed to you in the coming months. Don’t delay – sign up for the session that best fits your schedule.

Transfer / Transfer GAP

Non-Degree / Dual Enrollment / Teacher Certification

This admissions category allows students to attend on a part time basis taking courses for personal development. Typically, students in this category are limited to taking 6-7 semester hours each semester and are not eligible for financial aid. Students in this group include: non degree seeking, dual enrollment, accounting certificate, and students with a degree who wish to pursue a licensure to teach.

  • Dual Enrollment Students: Please contact Rusty Necessary at 276-328-0102 to schedule an appointment to register for classes. Also, the enclosed Pre-Entrance Health Packet must be completed and submitted to the Health Services office prior to the beginning of the semester you plan to attend.
  • Non Degree Students:  Please contact the Advising Center at 276-328-0313 to register for classes.
  • Teaching Licensure: Students in this category may enroll as full time students. Please contact Jewell Askins, Director of the Teacher Education Program at 276-328-0162 or by e-mail at: gja8b@uvawise.edu to register for classes. Students in this category may be eligible for financial aid. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 276-328-0139 with specific questions.
