The campus community at UVa-Wise is representative of a variety of cultures and ethnicities. As a community of learners, we seek to appreciate and respect the diverse cultures and backgrounds, including geographic, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, and religion, of our students, faculty and staff.
A diverse setting assists students in gaining an understanding of the value of education and the responsibility of citizenship which is critical to their successful acclimation in an ever-changing and complex world.
There are a variety of departments and initiatives at UVa-Wise that serve to further promote diversity education. Read below to learn more and for contact information should you have additional questions.
Disability Support Services
Disability Support Services at UVa-Wise works to assist all qualified students with disabilities in the pursuit of their educational objectives. We attempt to coordinate the students’ needs with services and resources available within our college system, and to ensure accessible educational opportunities for students according to their individual needs. Our philosophy is that the individuals we serve are students first, and their disabilities are secondary. For more information about Disability Support Services visit the Disability Support Services webpage or contact Whitney Wells, ADA Coordinator, at 276.376.0177.
