Residence Hall Association

Residence Hall Association (RHA)

The UVa-Wise RHA is the elected ‘voice’ of the residential students. At the start of each academic year, each floor elects one representative to vote on their behalf.

Additionally, committee membership provides opportunities for other students beyond the elected floor representatives to get involved in hall leadership.  Some of the available committees include:  programming, community service, fundraising, conferencing, and Silver Saber/Spirit.

Responsibilities include planning and hosting activities and programs to promote a positive living-learning environment.  RHA is affiliated with the following state, regional and national collegiate residence hall associations — VACURH, SAACURH and NACURH.  Read the RHA constitution.

RHA is fully-affiliated with NACURH, Inc. and representatives attend:

  • VACURH annual conference held each spring
  • SAACURH annual conference held each fall
  • SAACURH annual business conference (No Frills) held each spring
  • NACURH annual conference held each summer

RHA conducts several annual fundraisers to provide residential students with reasonably-priced linen and shower kits, as well as surprises from home to welcome you to campus, celebrate your birthday and help de-stress during final exams.

  • Exam Kits
At the end of each fall and spring semester, parents and families may purchase one of these kits to help students relieve some stress. Kits include snacks and stress-relieving toys. More information to come soon…
  • Linen Kits
Need help finding extra-long bedding to fit the mattresses in our halls? We can help! The Residence Hall Association has partnered with Residence Hall Linens for several years to provide our students and families with a convenient, affordable way to ensure you have sheets that will fit all of the beds on campus. Proceeds from this program are used for programming in the residence halls. There’s free shipping for all Value Pak orders, more than 40 color combinations available, and linens are delivered to your home during the summer for extra convenience. Visit the RHL/OCM website.

Membership in RHA is open to all residential students.  A single voting representative to RHA is elected by each floor/hall at the start of the academic year.
