Cybersecurity Faculty Position
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise has an opening for a full-time, non-tenure track Cybersecurity Faculty Position. This teaching position with administrative functions will be housed in the Math and Computer Science Department at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise and will work closely with The Office of Economic Development and Engagement. The position will be responsible for the development and teaching of programs/courses in cybersecurity for the computer science and software engineering programs; as well as leading the design, technical set up, and implementation of a multi-day cybersecurity symposium/competition. The primary responsibility is to teach and develop programs. Faculty hired in this position will be required to teach courses in credit and non-credit areas. Teaching schedules may include days or evening hours on and off-campus. Office hours for advising and student support are also expected to be maintained. The design and implementation of the symposium/competition will include planning of workshops, panel discussions, as well as competition components focused on practical cybersecurity. The design/evaluation of competition platforms or environments, including the setup and management of a cybersecurity lab, will also be required. The position is initially grant funded for three years, with plans to transition to a permanent position. Salary will be commensurate with the education and experience of the applicant. Qualifications Required: A Master’s degree in Computer Science (or a related field) and a minimum of 5 years of occupational experience working in the information and cybersecurity field. Qualifications Preferred: Applicant should possess knowledge of a variety of instructional technology applications, such as Blackboard, Moodle, etc. A wide range of coursework and/or teaching experience throughout Computer Science subject areas or Software Engineering is preferred. Also preferred is demonstrated experience in curriculum development; excellent written and oral communication skills; organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations of college faculty, staff, students and employers.

Assistant/Associate Professor in Strategic Communications
The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in public relations and advertising beginning in August 2017. Teaching responsibilities include quantitative research methods, and/or a basic course in media studies along with developing and teaching courses in public relations, advertising, and social media. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in communication, or a related field (with at least 18 graduate hours in communication) or Master’s degree in communication with substantial experience in advertising, marketing, or public relations.
