Instructor of Mathematics/Academic Support Coordinator
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, a division of the University of Virginia, is a nationally ranked four-year public liberal arts college located in the scenic mountains of southwestern Virginia and invites applications for a full-time Instructor/Academic Support Coordinator.  This position will provide instructional and academic support services to freshman students enrolled in selected lower division Math and Computer Science courses.  Duties will include teaching and working with students in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science to help ensure student success.  Specific duties include teaching 6 credit hours per semester with release time to perform the following: conducting one-on-one meetings with students; hiring, managing, scheduling, tracking, and marketing of the Drop-In Tutoring for the department; assisting with curriculum development; managing the mathematics placement process for the department; collecting and reporting data on student success for assessment purposes, etc.; and other duties as determined by the department chair. Required credentials include a Master’s degree in Mathematics, excellent communication skills, and a desire to work with students for success. Experience with introductory computer science and programming will be considered a plus.
