Professor of Accounting
The Department of Business and Economics of the University of Virginia’s College at Wise http://www.uvawise.edu/ invites applications for an Associate/Assistant Professor in Accounting. Successful candidates will have a Doctorate in Accounting from a regionally accredited institution.
The department is especially seeking candidates who can demonstrate an exceptional commitment to teaching, commitment to scholarly research and a record of quality scholarship. Teaching experience in governmental accounting and/or accounting information systems is preferred. Interdisciplinary research as well as pedagogical or educational research is encouraged. Teach and advise undergraduate students with a dedication to student learning. Maintain scholarly renewal and research, provide institutional service and engage in in professional growth and development.
Salary, rank, and tenure status will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Candidates must have a minimum of 18 hours of graduate level accounting in order to be considered for tenure track. A CPA certification is preferred. Other professional accounting certifications (e.g., CMA, CIA, CFE, etc.) will also be viewed favorably.

Assistant Professor of Public History/Museum
Public History/Museum Studies: The University of Virginia’s College at Wise seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in Public History or Museum Studies to begin fall 2019. The successful candidate should possess training and/or experience in Public History or Museum Studies and be able to teach upper-level courses in those and related fields. The successful candidate will administer and seek to expand a growing Public History/Museum internship program and will place and supervise student interns. Experience teaching Western Civilization surveys is required. The successful candidate will also teach upper-level courses in his/her area of expertise, which is open, but the department has a strong preference for someone able to teach courses in the ancient Mediterranean World. Candidate qualifications include a Ph.D. at the time of the appointment, a record or evidence of potential for teaching, scholarship and service, and a strong commitment to liberal arts/humanities. Assistant/Associate Professor of Economics
The Department of Business and Economics of The University of Virginia’s College at Wise invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in economics. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in economics, a strong interest in and commitment to teaching excellence, and commitment to a continuing program of scholarly research. Applicants from all areas of concentration will be considered, however, candidates with a concentration or MS in finance will be preferred. ABD’s near completion will be considered, but candidates must have completed the Ph.D. by August 2019 to be hired on a tenure-track appointment. Compensation will be very competitive and commensurate with experience. Immediate teaching responsibilities will include Microeconomics & Macroeconomics (both at Principles and Intermediate levels), Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, and additional courses, depending on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and interests. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester. Faculty in Computer Science/Cyber Security/Data Analytics
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise invites applications for a faculty position in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science/and/or the Business Department to work closely with the Office of Economic Development and Engagement. This is a full-time teaching position. Duties include creating and teaching courses in Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Data Analytics; serving the department and college on various committees; advising students; pursuing ongoing scholarly activity; and assisting with student engagement activities such as summer camps and cyber symposia as well as assisting the Department Chair with assessment and any other duties as needed. Successful candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; should have experience teaching at the undergraduate level; must have a graduate degree from an accredited institution, and at least 18 hours of graduate work in Computer Science or a related field; should have graduate level work in cyber security (or relevant industry experience); and should have relevant graduate level work in Data Analytics or Management Science (or relevant industry experience).
