Computer Science Instructor

Mathematics Instructor/Academic Support Coordinator

Assistant Professor in Communications Studies
The Department of Communications studies at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor in Communication Studies for a tenure-track position beginning in August 2018. The successful candidate should be able to teach a wide range of communication studies courses, which may include; basic public speaking, interpersonal communication, rhetorical studies, intercultural communication, media studies, communication and new media, persuasion, health communication, and quantitative research methods, among others. Preference will be given to candidates with strong background/experience in mass communication and broadcast journalism.  Additionally, successful candidates must be interested in working closely with communication majors to further undergraduate research opportunities, including travel with students to undergraduate scholarly conferences.  Candidates must hold a  Ph.D. in communications or a related field (with at least 18 graduate hours in communication).  ABD’s near completion will be considered, but candidates must be scheduled to complete the degree no later than December 2018.  Successful candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills, computer skills, teaching experience, a record of research, and a commitment to undergraduate education.  Review of applications will begin February 19, 2018.
