The G2K GAME – Innovation Competition

About the Competition:

The G2K Game Innovation Competion on March 27, 2020THE G2K GAME is a competitive process among tech savvy students at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. Students will submit and pitch an original technology based business idea to a panel of judges to compete for up to $10,000 in awards and mentorship opportunities to bring their ideas to reality.

The goal of the competition is to foster entrepreneurship and to encourage an entrepreneurial mindset at the University, giving students the opportunity to bring their ideas to fruition in Southwest Virginia.

The Benefits:

Winning students or teams will receive guidance, financial support, and incubator space in order to move their business idea forward.

Sponsored by local business, G2K Games, the competition may award up to $10,000 to the top competitors, as selected by the judges. Prize winners must use the award funds to assist in the development of the business idea. In addition, students will be offered free incubator space for up to one year in The Pioneer Center for Business Opportunity in Norton.

All competitors will be connected to free business resources and mentors in the region.

The Players:

THE G2K GAME is designed to benefit undergraduate students enrolled at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. The competition is open to all students in any discipline or department at UVA Wise.

The Process:

UVA Wise students will submit a draft Executive Summary of their technology based business concept in January 2019 to a group of mentors. After meeting with mentors and receiving feedback on their ideas, students will participate in practice pitches to refine their elevator pitch. Final Executive Summaries will be submitted in March 6, 2020 for judges to review. The competition will conclude on March 27, 2020 when students will pitch their idea to the panel of judges. Students will have 10 minutes to deliver an oral presentation or pitch, with the use of slides, props, or a prototype.

All Executive Summaries will need to be emailed to Josh Sawyers at by March 6, 2020 by 11:59 PM to be entered into the competition.
