The Slemp Center was designed to be the campus living room. The $10.9 million, 46, 234 square foot student center was named for C. Bascom Slemp, the former U.S. congressman and the personal secretary to former President Calvin Coolidge. This campus facility bridges the upper and lower campus and offers meeting areas for clubs and organizations, recreational space, the campus post office and bookstore, and much more!

Carl Smith Stadium was christened in 1999 by a 49-19 victory over West Virginia Tech. Opened with a $5 million gift from University of Virginia alumnus Carl Smith, the campus stadium has since seen several upgrades. Bleachers were added in 2001; the Humphreys-Thomas Field House was built in 2003; Ramseyer Press Box was installed in 2004; and the athletic facility’s original turf was replaced with Astroturf GameDay Grass 3D in 2011. Most recently, Beaty-Richmond field received lacrosse lines.
