Week of Service

The University of Virginia's College at Wise will host the 11th Annual Week of Service from April 5-10, 2021.

The Day of service was first held in 2011 as a joint venture between the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and the College at Wise to honor and to celebrate the inauguration of Teresa A. Sullivan as the eighth president of the University of Virginia. In keeping with the College's mission to promote civic involvement within the community, the Day of Service has become an annual event that brings campus and the community together through volunteering.

This year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are instead having a Week of Service to accommodate gathering restrictions. The traditional breakfast sponsored by Wise Kiwanis will be replaced with $10 gift cards to local restaurants for participants. The UVA Wise Student Government Association will provide Week of Service t-shirts for participants.

Week of Service Projects

This year, Week of Service participants may choose multiple projects to participate in throughout the week. Upon registration, volunteers will receive a confirmation email with details about the project(s) they chose. Registration requirements are noted under project descriptions, however only those who register are guaranteed a t-shirt and gift card. Participants will only receive one gift card even if they register for multiple projects. Please read through the project descriptions below prior to completing the registration form at the bottom of the page.
