Founded in 1954, The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is a four-year, nationally-accredited college situated on a scenic 369-acre campus amid the Appalachian Mountains in Southwest Virginia.

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise was recently recognized as one of America’s top Colleges of Distinction, an award based on our school’s dedication to helping students learn, grow, and succeed. UVa-Wise offers students the advantages of a small university – such as our 13:1 student-faculty ratio – while granting them access to the benefits of a large public university, like thriving NCAA athletics programs and valuable career connections from the surrounding community.

Many of our students graduate without the burden of debilitating student debt – in fact, our alumni carry the lowest debt load of any public liberal arts college in the nation, with 80% of students receiving financial assistance.
