  2. Visit campus and see what sets the College apart.
  3. Put application deadlines and other important dates on your calendar.
  4. Complete and submit a freshman application.
  5. Send official transcript(s) for your high school and any college you’ve attended for dual enrollment (even for just one course) to transcript@uvawise.edu.

Next, apply for financial aid and scholarships

  1. File tax returns for your parents and yourself (if applicable) as soon as possible.
  2. Start the financial aid application process by preparing your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Complete and submit as soon as possible after January 1. File by February 15 for full consideration for scholarship and aid. UVA Wise’s FAFSA code is 003747.
  3. Talk to your guidance counselor about other scholarship opportunities.

Once you’ve received your acceptance letter

  1. Congratulations! Time to celebrate. Watch the mail for your award letter, which includes the financial aid programs that may be available to you.
Your offer of admission is based on your cumulative academic work to date; you are required to submit official final high school and any dual enrollment transcripts upon graduation/completion of the courses.
  2. After confirming your enrollment in the application portal, then complete your pre-orientation Cav module to prepare for orientation where you’ll meet with an advisor and register for classes.
  3. Review campus housing options & complete an application.
  4. Send all student and parent loan request forms to the Office of Financial Aid by July 1 for fall semester disbursement. Sign up for payment plans if you’ve chosen that option.
  5. Mark your calendar for Expedition, the extended orientation experience for all freshmen the weekend before classes begin.
  6. Participate in Welcome Week events, the College’s semester-kickoff event for all students, to get your year off to a great start.
