Dear UVA Wise Class of 2020, and families and friends of the Class,
Although we held a virtual ceremony to begin the celebration of the graduates of the UVA Wise Class of 2020, we plan to hold Commencement 2020 in the David J. Prior Convocation Center on Sunday, October 4, 2020. We may need to consider alternate dates as the pandemic evolves, and a ceremony time will be determined later, but we are committed to celebrating your graduation fully at a future date. At this time, we would advise against making any travel plans until we have a clearer picture of safety measures and necessary precautions in the fall.
Graduates, I know how much this ceremony means to you and your families. As educators, and members of your UVA Wise family, it means a great deal to us, too. We look forward to celebrating you very soon. If ever you are disappointed or saddened by the unprecedented events this semester, remember this: you are a unique class. In fact, you have already made history. We will remember this year for everyone’s extraordinary display of strength, resilience and determination – qualities that have marked your years at the College and will remain with you a lifetime. Until we meet again, I send best wishes for good health and good spirits.
Donna P. Henry
