Philosophy

Overview

Although the philosophy minor resides in the department of history at UVA Wise, any student may undertake a minor in philosophy by completing six course hours in philosophy courses at any level and an additional 12 course hours of philosophy at the 3000/4000 level. Courses range from selections in ethics, human nature, and local to classes on philosophy at specific moments in history or certain cultures, such as Intellectual History of Europe in the 19th Century. Independent study courses are also offered in this discipline. A minor in philosophy consists of 18 semester hours, at least 12 of which must be in 3000- or 4000-level courses.
