Service Living Learning Community

Started in fall 2022, the UVA Wise Service Living Learning Community helps students with a passion for community engagement and volunteerism find peers with similar interests serve our local and regional communities. Their contributions of time and energy positively impact individuals and families across a variety of needs and advance projects for several organizations over time through the College’s ongoing efforts.

Service Events

Kids Day in STEM-H: Service LLC students assisted with an event where more than 300 middle school students from around the region learned about careers in STEM-H, performing labs to gain hands-on experience.

Fill-the-Car Food Drive: During a Highland Cavalier home football game, Service LLC students packed car trunks with donated canned goods and collected cash for raffles with food being donated to Smiddy’s Cupboard, our on-campus food pantry.

Inman Village Trick-or-Treat: Students donned costumes while hosting a Halloween event for residents of the area. But, the treats weren’t all sweet; fresh produce was offered to residents as well.

Habitat for Humanity: UVA Wise volunteers joined with Holston Habitat for Humanity to assist with a housing build.

Inman Village Produce Delivery: Every Friday, students knocked, door-to-door, offering residents of Inman Village a box of fresh produce.
